Video of “The Beautiful Ogre and Other Fairy Tales” in Indiana radio play

Here’s video of my ten-minute script THE BEAUTIFUL OGRE AND OTHER FAIRY TALES being done as a radio play before a live audience in Mitchell, Indiana on Feb. 5.

Another script of mine, CHICAGO DREAM, was also on the bill but the program ran long so the last four pieces were cut — one of which was CHICAGO DREAM. I’m told it’s likely to be on the bill for the May installment of “Hoosier Hometown Live.”

This was the sixth production of the script:

THE BEAUTIFUL OGRE AND OTHER FAIRY TALES
A father reads his daughter a fairy tale as a bedtime story — which the characters begin to act out. The girl doesn’t like how the story is going — no strong female role models, for instance — so she changes it all around. This is the result. Cast: Five — three males, two females. Running time: Eight minutes.
* Produced by the Paw Paw Village Players, Paw Paw, Michigan, Feb. 15-16, 22-23, 2008.
* Produced by Youth Education on Stage Summer Shorts, Williston, North Dakota, June 24-26, 2008.
* Produced by Subversive Theatre, Buffalo, N.Y., various nights between May 2-17, 2009.
* Produced by Play’n’Well Players, Plainview, Michigan, last weekend of May 2009.
* Produced by Jeonju Players, Jeonju, South Korea, December 2014
* Produced as script-in-hand radio play by Hoosier Hometown Live, Mitchell, Indiana, Feb. 5, 2016.

More video from “On the Thirteenth Day of Christmas” in New Jersey

Here are some more video highlights from ON THE THIRTEENTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, now in production in New Jersey at First Avenue Playhouse in Atlantic Highlands. I can’t swear that these are in any kind of order:

Mr. Rudolph mistakes Pookums for his night cap.

Veronica learns the consequences of un-milked cows.

ON THE THIRTEENTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS
A wild, action-packed Christmas farce. A young woman suddenly finds herself receiving the gifts from the song “The Twelve Days of Christmas,” apparently from an unknown suitor. The play begins on the thirteenth day as she copes with the chaos outside her apartment, as neighbors demand she do something about the noisy birds and pipers and drummers. The woman hatches a plan to shoot the birds and organize the people into an impromptu Christmas parade. Chaos ensues. Cast: 13 — 7f, 3m, 3 non-gender.

Video: Staged reading of “Miss Cow Pie Bingo”

Back in January, I held a staged reading of my full-length comedy MISS COW PIE BINGO at Showtimers in Roanoke, Virginia.

Here, at last, is video from that reading. (Shout-out to videographer Blake Lipscomb, who stepped in on short notice.)

Melora Kordos directed. Cast consisted of: Kelly Anglim, Tim Kennard, Patrick Kennerly, Nancy Lawrence, Jason Patrick Palmer, Emma Sala, Heather Sexton, Gwyneth Strope, with Luke Clark reading stage directions.

MISS COW PIE BINGO
A Texas mother desperately wants one of her daughters to win a beauty pageant. Problem is, neither daughter is interested. The older one just wants to shoot her gun and the younger one is busy playing video games and hacking computer sites. To make up for this, the mom hires a pageant consultant, who turns out to be fake. There’s also a robot. Comedy ensues. Cast: Five females, three males.

Here are still photos from the reading.

Video from my two pieces in this year’s Gi60 Festival in New York

In June, I had two short pieces in the annual Gone in 60 Seconds Festival of one-minute plays in New York. It’s actually an international festival; I also had two pieces in the British leg of the festival in May. I’m still waiting on the video from that show, but the video from the New York festival has now been posted.

Video: “The Black Market of Memories” in Chicago

Otherworld Theatre in Chicago produced my script THE BLACK MARKET OF MEMORIES as part of the Paragon festival of science fiction plays on August 22. Here’s the video.

It was one of two of my scripts in the show; the other was THE SANDSTORM.

THE BLACK MARKET OF MEMORIES
A young woman wakes up in a strange place — and discovers she’s had her memories stolen. Now that doctors have devised a way to transplant memories, there’s a lively market for memories — and a black market of stolen ones. The woman shares a recovery room with another woman, who specializes in “customizing” memories — doing things for rich donors that they’d never do themselves, but would like to remember doing. A dark, serious piece, which is carried primarily by the two women; the other characters appear only intermittently. Cast: Five — one male, two female, two non-gender. Running time: Twenty five minutes.
* Produced by End Times Productions, New York, N.Y., July 2011.
* Produced by Otherworld Theatre, Chicago, Illinois, August 2015.
