Video: Staged reading of “Miss Cow Pie Bingo”
Posted by Dwayne Yancey in News, Productions, Video on November 14, 2015
Back in January, I held a staged reading of my full-length comedy MISS COW PIE BINGO at Showtimers in Roanoke, Virginia.
Here, at last, is video from that reading. (Shout-out to videographer Blake Lipscomb, who stepped in on short notice.)
Melora Kordos directed. Cast consisted of: Kelly Anglim, Tim Kennard, Patrick Kennerly, Nancy Lawrence, Jason Patrick Palmer, Emma Sala, Heather Sexton, Gwyneth Strope, with Luke Clark reading stage directions.
MISS COW PIE BINGO
A Texas mother desperately wants one of her daughters to win a beauty pageant. Problem is, neither daughter is interested. The older one just wants to shoot her gun and the younger one is busy playing video games and hacking computer sites. To make up for this, the mom hires a pageant consultant, who turns out to be fake. There’s also a robot. Comedy ensues. Cast: Five females, three males.
Here are still photos from the reading.

My 10-minute script THE CHRISTMAS GOAT is one of the scripts selected for a December festival in Huntington, West Virginia, through the Arts Resources for the Tri-State group.
I’m awaiting word on the actual date. UPDATE: Dec. 5, at 2 pm.
Here’s a description — which reflects my predilection for a) talking animals and b) especially goats.
THE CHRISTMAS GOAT
A goat wants to be part of Christmas. Dark comedy ensues. Cast of five: One female, four non-gender. Running time: Ten minutes.

Rehearsal photos from “Death by Poinsettia” in Hollywood
Posted by Dwayne Yancey in News, Photos, Productions, Uncategorized on November 10, 2015
My one-act DEATH BY POINSETTIA is being produced by Studio C Artists in Hollywood as part of a holiday show.
It’s a comedy about a lonely woman who decides to commit suicide by eating a poinsettia — while broadcasting this on a webcam. Only two problems: She invites a bunch of people, knowing none of them will show up. Except one of them does — an equally lonely co-worker she barely knows. Oh, and it turns out poinsettias really aren’t fatal anyway.
Studio C said they were looking for very “modern” Christmas plays; this is mine. The show opens November 13 and continues most Fridays and Saturdays through December 14. Full list of show dates here.
Rehearsal photos from “On the Thirteenth Day of Christmas”

First Avenue Playhouse in Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey is producing my full-length script ON THE THIRTEENTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS in December. Here are photos from the table read — plus the poster.
The show runs December 4-19; specific dates and times here.
This is the second production of the script; the first was in Oregon in 2013. Here’s a photo from that production, which the director called “a true gem.”
UPDATED: Even more rehearsal photos here.
ON THE THIRTEENTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS
A wild, action-packed Christmas farce. A young woman suddenly finds herself receiving the gifts from the song “The Twelve Days of Christmas,” apparently from an unknown suitor. The play begins on the thirteenth day as she copes with the chaos outside her apartment, as neighbors demand she do something about the noisy birds and pipers and drummers. The woman hatches a plan to shoot the birds and organize the people into an impromptu Christmas parade. Chaos ensues. Cast: 13 — 7f, 3m, 3 non-gender.

Posted by Dwayne Yancey in News, Productions, Uncategorized, Video on September 28, 2015
In June, I had two short pieces in the annual Gone in 60 Seconds Festival of one-minute plays in New York. It’s actually an international festival; I also had two pieces in the British leg of the festival in May. I’m still waiting on the video from that show, but the video from the New York festival has now been posted.
