“The Ring” finished second out of 260 entries in Wisconsin

My second place certificate.
I’m a pack rat, so I always ask theatres that perform my work to send me posters, programs, photos, and what not if they can. When The Haylofters in Burlington, Wisconsin recently performed my one-act, THE RING, I didn’t have to ask. Since this was a competition, the theatre mailed me my certificate.
As previously noted, THE RING took second place in the audience vote. What I didn’t realize until I read the program was there had been 260 entries. Second place out of 260? I’ll take that!

“Revenge Is Sweet . . . ” to be produced at British festival this summer

Just got the word that my one-act “Revenge Is Sweet With a Slight Aftertaste of Irony” will be one of four one-acts produced this summer at a festival in Great Britain. Specifically, by the Congleton Players in Congleton, England in July.
More than 200 scripts were entered.
Here’s the synopsis:
REVENGE IS SWEET WITH A SLIGHT AFTERTASTE OF IRONY
A famous food critic visits a restaurant. The manager wants desperately to please him; the chef wants revenge. Dark comedy and slapstick ensues. Cast: Six — four male, two female. Running time: Fifteen minutes.

I have at least eight productions this fall, including my first in India!
I say “at least eight” because some of my publishers don’t report productions until after they’ve happened, so it’s likely that number is higher.
But here are the ones I do know about, which are happening in six different states and the forementioned Republic of India!
* The one-act “The Fruitcake,” a Christmas show, remains my most frequently-produced script. It’s published by Brooklyn Publishers these four productions will take me up to the 40th production mark:
— Patrick Henry Academy, Estill, South Carolina, Oct. 29
— McCool Schools, McCool Junction, Nebraska, Nov. 1
— New Underwood School District, New Underwood, South Dakota, Nov. 23
— Mitchell High School, Mitchell, Nebraska, Nov. 26.
* The one-act “Hit the Books” continues to climb up the charts. It’s published by Eldridge Plays and Musicals and these two productions will be the 13th and 14th of this script:
— Milestone Public School, Milestone, Montana, Nov. 23
— Catholic Central High School, Burlington, Wisconsin, Dec. 14
* The hour-long one-act “Macbeth Goes Hollywood” is my second most-production script. It’s also published by Eldridge Plays and Musicals and this production will be the 26th production — and my first in India.
— Pathways School Gurgaon, Gurgaon, India, Nov. 16. (This is on the outskirts of New Delhi.)
That won’t be my first production in Asia, though. Earlier this year, a group in Singapore produced another of my one-acts, “Mac and Beth.” It also was a Shakespeare spoof, perhaps underscoring how much Shakespeare is a universal language.
On another note, I’m struck again by how many productions I get in the Upper Midwest.
Finally, as previously noted, one of my full-length scripts is scheduled for production in December in Oregon — “On the 13th Day of Christmas” at Santiam High School in Mill City, Oregon. That will be the first production of that script, but will be the sixth full-length script I’ve had produced.
Note that all these one-acts have been published, so royalties are involved. But impoverished directors take note, I have many more scripts that are unpublished and I allow those to be produced royalty-free. Here’s why.

Audio: Seven of my pieces on Falcon Radio Theatre

Falcon Radio Theatre at Seattle Pacific University ended its run on May 21, 2013 with a grand finale that included seven of my pieces.
Specifically:
* “The Liberal Arts Pirates”
* “Occupations”
* “Zucchini Are Planning to Take Over the World”
* “God and the Devil Meet for a Business Lunch”
* “If Cats Had Lawyers”
* “Damsel Not in Distress”
* “Somewhere Tonight the Last Washington Senators Game Still Plays On.”
“Occupations” is a one-act; “God and the Devil” and the “Washington Senators” are ten-minute scripts; the rest weigh in at about five minutes.
The audio has just now gone online, and here it is.
Seattle radio station produces four more of my scripts as radio plays

Falcon Radio Theatre airs Thursday nights at 7 p.m. Pacific Standard Time on kspu.org
A Seattle Internet radio station — KSPU, affiliated with Seattle Pacific University — has produced four more of my scripts as radio plays.
This is the second week in a row that Falcon Radio Theatre has done some of my work, and this time I got the whole hour.
I’m big in Seattle!
The scripts that were done Feb. 7 were:
* “Lucy,” a one-act about the devil, that’s been previously produced in Virginia and Maine.
* “Somewhere Tonight, the Last Washington Senators’ Game Plays On,” a ten-minute play about baseball that was produced for the first time.
* “The Liberal Arts Pirates,” a five-minute piece about career counseling that was a favorite when it was first done at No Shame Theatre in Roanoke, Virginia.
* “The Secret Lives of Goldfish: Pirates!,” a five-minute piece in my series of goldfish shorts.
Here’s what Falcon Radio Theatre did last week.

A Seattle Internet radio station produced two of my scripts on January 31 in a radio theatre format.
KSPU — kspu.org — is affiliated with Seattle Pacific University. Each Thursday, the station produces Falcon Radio Theatre.
The folks behind the show came across my site, contacted me, and eventually settled on “Occupations,” a dark one-act about three siblings who each are trying to hide their true jobs from one another (mercenary, prostitute, thief), and “The Secret Lives of Goldfish: The Escape,” a light, bright five-minute piece.
I listened in on my home computer and, after fumbling a bit over which software to use, had the broadcast coming in loud and clear, all the way from Puget Sound to the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Based on what the producers have told me, it sounds like there’s a good chance they’ll be producing some additional scripts of mine in the future.
