ON THE THIRTEENTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS
A wild, action-packed Christmas farce. A young woman suddenly finds herself receiving the gifts from the song “The Twelve Days of Christmas,” apparently from an unknown suitor. The play begins on the thirteenth day as she copes with the chaos outside her apartment, as neighbors demand she do something about the noisy birds and pipers and drummers. The woman hatches a plan to shoot the birds and organize the people into an impromptu Christmas parade. Chaos ensues. Cast: 13 — 7f, 3m, 3 non-gender.

Posted by Dwayne Yancey in News, Productions, Uncategorized on November 11, 2015
My 10-minute script THE CHRISTMAS GOAT is one of the scripts selected for a December festival in Huntington, West Virginia, through the Arts Resources for the Tri-State group.
I’m awaiting word on the actual date. UPDATE: Dec. 5, at 2 pm.
Here’s a description — which reflects my predilection for a) talking animals and b) especially goats.
THE CHRISTMAS GOAT
A goat wants to be part of Christmas. Dark comedy ensues. Cast of five: One female, four non-gender. Running time: Ten minutes.

Rehearsal photos from “Death by Poinsettia” in Hollywood
Posted by Dwayne Yancey in News, Photos, Productions, Uncategorized on November 10, 2015
My one-act DEATH BY POINSETTIA is being produced by Studio C Artists in Hollywood as part of a holiday show.
It’s a comedy about a lonely woman who decides to commit suicide by eating a poinsettia — while broadcasting this on a webcam. Only two problems: She invites a bunch of people, knowing none of them will show up. Except one of them does — an equally lonely co-worker she barely knows. Oh, and it turns out poinsettias really aren’t fatal anyway.
Studio C said they were looking for very “modern” Christmas plays; this is mine. The show opens November 13 and continues most Fridays and Saturdays through December 14. Full list of show dates here.

“Death by Poinsettia” to be produced in Hollywood
Posted by Dwayne Yancey in News, Productions, Uncategorized on September 18, 2015
Got word today that my short Christmas one-act DEATH BY POINSETTIA will be produced in Hollywood by Studio C Artists this November and December.
It’s one of three one-acts in the theatre’s holiday show.
Performance dates are:
Friday, November 13th
Saturday, November 14th
Friday, November 20th
Saturday, November 21st
Friday, December 4th
Saturday, December 5th
Friday, December 11th
Saturday, December 12th
I seem to recall that Studio C’s call for submissions was looking for short holiday scripts that were cool, hip and could be done by 20-somethings. Mine fits!
DEATH BY POINSETTIA
A lonely woman tries to kill herself at Christmas by eating a poinsettia, convinced the plant is poisonous. It’s not, though. A male co-worker shows up and a touching scene ensues. Cast: Two – one male, one female.
“Joy To Other Worlds” produced in Manitoba
Posted by Dwayne Yancey in News, Productions, Uncategorized on December 18, 2014
My Christmas one-act JOY TO OTHER WORLDS had its premiere this month in Steinbach, Manitoba this month. It was produced by the Backyard Theatre Company.
Here’s the synopsis:
JOY TO OTHER WORLDS
A man’s display of Christmas lights flashing to the tune of “Joy to The World” attracts the attention of an alien race, which struggles to interpret the transmission. Cast: Nine — Four male, three female, two non-gender or one male, six females, two non-gender.
I’ve now been produced in every Canadian province from Ontario and west; nothing yet from Quebec to the east.
I have three more Christmas one-acts being produced this season:
* December 19-20: LET THERE BE LIGHTS! by Mockingbird Players, Columbia City, Indiana.
* December 19-20: THE ANGEL TREE and A ZOMBIE CHRISTMAS, by CW Actors Group, Collbran, Colorado.
Here’s the complete list of my Christmas plays.
And here’s a partial list of productions this year:

The angel, played by Lindsey Talbott, appears — transformed from the angel on top the tree to an live angel. The tree suffers in the process.
